Very happy to announce that I will be flying out to London tomorrow to start working on a new theatre project – FALLEN WOMEN (working title). It centres around 4 female characters from 18th & 19th century plays in German – Gretchen, Marie, Klara and Emilia Galotti, from Faust I (Goethe), Woyzeck (Büchner), Maria Magdalene (Hebbel), and Emilia Galotti (Lessing), respectively. These 4 women are all punished for perceived sexual transgression. They all end up dead because of social judgments on what they should and shouldn’t do with their bodies. This is the first stage of the developing process and we will be working intensively for one week.
